Requirements -
- Two play lengths will be accepted.
- Short - No more than 15 minutes
- Long - No more than 60 minutes
- There will be three divisions
- Young (18 & under) individuals or groups who are located inside of Katy ISD area.
- Young (18 & under) individuals or groups who are located outside of Katy ISD area.
- Adult Individuals or Groups inside or outside of Katy ISD area.
- Movies must be submitted on Video DVD (no added features, just the movie)
- A Submission Form can be downloaded here.
- Each submission must include
- Your Payment
- A brief synopsis of the film
- A biography of the creator
- A Cast List
- Film Credits
- Press Kit and/or Promotional stills/jpgs are highly recommended
- Please be sure to sign the Duplication Authorization so the Festival may present your movie in advertisements, brochures and other Festival literature. This gives your movie more exposure to the participants and the industry.
- We welcome the opportunity to return your submitted movie. When submitting your movie to the Katy Film Festival, please include prepaid return postal package if you desire your movie to be returned.
- Movies will be reviewed prior to event and determined whether they will be fit for screening.
- Pyro~Media is offering its services to pre-screen your movie and give recommendations about its suitability for the festival, along with expert input on the quality of your movie and its potential.
Pre-screening Fee: $75
- Once submitted, if your movie is found to be unfit for any reason, you will have the opportunity to make the requisite changes and re-submit (additional,discounted submission fee required), as long as it makes the deadline.
- Pre-screening (to Pyro~Media) deadline is June 1, 2009.
- Regular Submission deadline is July 31, 2009.
- Late Submission deadline is August 15, 2009.

Training -
If you have the desire to better prepare yourself for making your movie, Supera Tech Academy is offering a nine month movie making course, beginning in September, 2008. August 19, 2008 - Katy Film Festival is conceived. Amber Strickland and Buddy Englett announce a film festival to give the young people in the Katy community an outlet for their creativity and to raise awareness of the talent and abilities we have in our midst.
August 28, 2008 - KatyFilmFestival.com goes live.
September 2 , 2008 - Goals are set. Based on the number of kids in Katy ISD and the level of participation we've seen at our previous events, we've projected a minimum turnout of 8,000 excited attendees!
September 22, 2008 - A press release has been sent to several local Katy publications regarding the movie premier and awards ceremony at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. For a pdf copy of the release, click here.
October 2, 2008 - We've begun talks with Alamo Drafthouse Cinema on Mason Rd. in Katy concerning hosting the film festival. Keep your fingers crossed.
September, 2009- We're sorry, but the Katy Film Festival has been put on the back burner for now. We're hoping that once the economy picks up we'll be able to reschedule it. Check back later for an update. |
